What are the differences between sublimation paper and heat transfer paper?

    The advancement of digital printing is beyond our expectation which is gradually superseding the traditional printing.Special paper applied in textiles printing is called  sublimation transfer paper that can also be divided into thermal sublimation paper and thermal（heat）transfer paper.However,many people are so confused about them, so what are the difference between them?In this article,we will discuss the general information.
Transfer paper for cotton t-shirt

   Heat transfer and thermal sublimation are all the same printing process.By  high temperature and high pressure ,the image on paper will be attached to  the heat transfer medium.It refers to the dye particles turn from solid into a gas directly, not through the liquid state.This physical process can make the dye firmly attach to the heat transfer medium.The ink will be colorful durably and vibrantly.
  
 Heat transfer paper,taking example of T-shirt transfer paper (dark T-shirt transfer paper and light color T-shirt transfer paper), is used to transfer patterns and designs which  usually use pigment inks(dye sublimation ink is ok).Thermal transfer printing has a sense of convex.That is because thermal transfer paper has gelatinous layer.When heated,  glue layer will  melt together with the pattern of ink printed on on surface of t-shirts. This kind paper is sold by sheets and especially for pure cotton clothing.Now this paper is applied widely to high-end toys, stationery, wood, leather, cosmetics and daily necessities, in order to improve the additional value of products.


   All that picture printed after heat transfer printing called thermal transfer paper, thermal sublimation paper is just one of the thermal transfer paper .Sublimation paper(sublimation transfer paper) can be mixed with heat transfer paper.Transfer printing process can be used in acrylic resin materials, nylon, polyester and cotton blended fabric (at least 65% : 65%, suggested 80% : 20%) for optimal, as well as any on the medium with polyester coating.So it can be used in many medium,but not  pure cotton materials which is the obvious difference from t-shirt transfer paper. While the coating (polyester coating) is important to the medium need to be transferred.To the inks, sublimation inks with water-based dye ink is the best option in sublimation transfer printing for the good  permeation.Now Sublimation paper  is applied to clothing, handbags, ribbon, cases, bags, cloth pad, packaging supplies, advertising posters and other supplies.
